A quote that has always inspired and motivated me to push the boundaries with environments that impact people not only in a spatial sense, but also an emotional, physical, and psychological way, came from Winston Churchill:
"We shape our buildings; thereafter they shape us."
FEATURED PROJECTS
Looking to provide a place where regional sports teams, community recreation, and local events can be hosted, the town of Castle Rock paired up with BRS and developer Confluence to design and build a new 100,000sf competition/recreation center in the heart of an old brickyard in central Castle Rock. This project is a community 'catalyst' of activity and interaction.
With a need for more affordable housing in the Knoxville area, this project looks at expanding a current low-income housing development and intermixing the community. By combining luxury living with affordable housing and community amenities, we hoped to break low-income stigma and connect the residents with more opportunity.
Interpreting the assembly of 3D puzzles into methods of architecture, this project is a three-part experiment resulting in a modern art gallery based out of downtown LA. I explored new technologies and ways of applying them throughout the process and focused on large amounts of hands-on modeling.
